Eggplant (Solanum melongena L) is a herbaceous vegetable plant of the Solanaceae family, of southern Asian origin cultivated for its fruit consumed as a fruiting vegetable, it occurs in the warm regions of Algeria and the potentilla zones are:

Coastline: Algiers, Tipaza, Boumerdes and Mostaganem

Sub-littoral: Blida

Interior plains: Laghouat, M’sila, Mascara

South: Ghardaïa
