Postage stamp printing machine
The 1.00+9.00 machine
Mr KRIMAT Ahcène, the printer of the first Algerian postage stamp (1.00+9.00), is the owner of the printing house "Les Impressions d'Art" located in Hussein Dey (Algiers), the one which saw the birth of the first postal figurine of independent Algeria.
Taken into free management on October 1, 1961, this printing house employed 8 workers, all Europeans with the exception of a young Algerian.
For the sake of nationalism, the choice was made on Mr Krimat in his capacity as an Algerian craftsman to take charge of the printing work alone while ensuring compliance with production deadlines.

Concerning the perforation, it was entrusted to a manual needle perforator, a professional perforator which required several adjustments and several operations.
