National Commons Day
The commune, the basic cell of local democracy, and the cornerstone and basic stone of the State, is the place where the popular will is expressed and where the basic values and principles of the republican, democratic and popular organization of the Algerian State are concretized.
January 18, 1967, a date coinciding with the publication of the first legal framework specific to the post-independence Algerian commune, constitutes a founding act. The Assemblies which have succeeded one another in the management of municipalities since that time have composed a rich history of the achievements of this unit, giving it an irreversible process for the realization of a representative local democracy meeting the expectations and aspirations of citizens.
The celebration of this day represents the very considerate view of the State towards its institutions, but also a tribute to all elected officials, civil servants and municipal employees who have served and still serve the municipality.
