National service, 50 years of achievements
After its triumphant exit from the Glorious War of National Liberation, independent Algeria had to immediately launch into the battle of construction, which required taking up the challenge by laying the first milestones, on solid foundations, of the Algerian State which needed all its sons.
For this, the supreme authorities of the country had decided to establish, in 1968, the National Service as an ideal framework to unite all the forces and mobilize them in the realization of vital projects in order to ensure the development of all regions of the country, in particular those landlocked and deprived.
Thus, on April 21, 1969, the first contingent of the National Service was incorporated where the young energies of Algeria were united for a single goal, namely the building of the young independent State. This date constituted the beginning of a long journey of ambitious projects and grandiose achievements which will remain engraved in the collective memory of Algeria, and which will remain a fundamental factor of our national identity and a symbol of citizenship. The National Service aims to raise awareness of the duty of national defense, to ensure the sustainability of the Army-Nation bond, and works to anchor the spirit of national unity.
The National Service continues to constitute a true school having given birth to successive generations of young Algerians in love with supreme national values, and to be an effective tool for realizing the country's strategic projects in the socio-economic sectors during several years of continuous work, crowned with achievements and achievements which arouse pride and greatness, among others, the Green Dam, the Trans-Saharan Road, Agricultural Villages, Railways and other basic infrastructures.
The young people of the National Service have always responded to the call of the Fatherland to participate in all the missions devolved to the National People's Army, worthy heir of the National Liberation Army, like their ancestors who accomplished their sacred duty for national independence and the recovery of the sovereignty of Algeria.
In commemoration of the fiftieth anniversary of the National Service, this postal stamp is published in tribute to all the citizens who have accomplished it since its establishment, with dedication and self-sacrifice. It is also dedicated to the memory of all those who fell on the field of honor so that Algeria could live free and independent.
