This funerary monument was built in the 3rd century, is located in the Henchir region currently called the village of Ouled Azzeddine, commune of El Mahmel 5 km west of the town of Khenchela (Mascula, former military capital of the Numidian kingdom).
Originally this monument was a tomb of one of the nobles of the Roman city “Cédias” where he was buried with his family, as evidenced by the Latin epigraphy at the top of the building.
This mausoleum is distinguished by an architecture closer to that of Carthage, its height is around 7 m and its base exceeds 4 m2. It is hexagonal in shape with a cavity and two columns decorated at the top in a Roman style. Around the building, there are stones engraved in Latin epigraphy and distinctive geometric shapes. The Cédias mausoleum was rehabilitated, restored and classified as national cultural heritage on March 3, 1999.
