International Day of Living Together in Peace
The United Nations General Assembly, at the initiative of Algeria, adopted by unanimous consensus of the 193 member states, on December 8, 2017, resolution No. 72/130 which proclaimed May 16 of each year, 'International Day of Living Together in Peace'.
This day will now constitute an opportunity for the continued mobilization of the efforts deployed by the international community in favor of peace, tolerance, inclusion, understanding and fraternity and an opportunity for all to express the deep desire to live and act together, united in difference and diversity, with a view to building a viable world based on peace, solidarity and harmony.
Algeria called for making the International Day of Living Together in Peace a dynamic of peace and tolerance 'which will shine across the entire planet'.
The celebration of this Day in 2018 will take place in many countries and cities around the world and will be an opportunity for all people who carry within them a strong desire for peace, to “come together without looking alike”, and to make this day a step towards the reconciliation of the human family.
