Traditional clothing is an integral part of the nation's heritage and whatever its improvement or development, it will always retain its values, which do not change across places or times.
Burnous – south:
It is no secret that the camel hair burnous is a registered artisanal brand of djelfa, particularly from the town of Messaad.
The indisputable quality of the Ouled Nail burnous is above all linked to the raw material from which it is made: 'pure camel wool', the camel hair burnous has always been the prerogative of Messaad, where camel hair craftsmanship is a heritage still well preserved by the local population.
Making a camel wool burnous is a long-term job, the main condition of which lies in the 'good selection of wool' that will be used. This task is entrusted to women, who once their choice is made, they proceed to wash it and purify it of all impurities, before spinning it into long yellowish-brown fibers. Once this stage has been completed, male artisans, known for their dexterity and talent, are called upon to take over to give shape to the woven threads, which will transform into beautiful burnous.
