Martyr Zabana Ahmed known as Zabana, 1926-1956, First martyr of the guillotine
Ahmed, known as Zabana, was born in 1926 in Zahana-Mascara. At the age of six he went to French primary school. In 1949, he joined the Movement for the Triumph of Democratic Liberties where he was designated a member of the Secret Organization (O.S.). The martyr therefore participated in the operation of the Oran post office on April 5, 1949. In 1950, Zabana was arrested and sentenced to three years in prison. Three years later, in 1953, he joined his brothers in arms
to prepare for the outbreak of the Revolution. On November 8, 1954, it was during the battle of Boujlida that Zabana was injured and arrested then sentenced to death and executed by guillotine on June 19, 1956 in Serkaji prison, Algiers.
