The development of this dictionary is considered a first initiative of this type in solidarity activities. Its objective is to fight against all forms of exclusion, marginalization and discrimination suffered by people with hearing impairment. It will be a means of communication and interaction for any disabled person to communicate with their environment.
Algerian sign language comes by promoting Law No. 02-09 of May 8, 2002 on the protection of people with disabilities, which emphasizes the need to find mechanisms to facilitate the social integration of people with disabilities in public life and also in application of the International Convention on the Rights of Persons with Disabilities ratified by Algeria in 2009.
The sign is considered the oldest language used by humans to express their thoughts and establish communication with their environment, which is the mother tongue of the deaf. It evolved over time and became an independent language. is a kinesthetic system based on the connection between the sign and the meaning, it is based on the use of hand movements with the fingers, facial expressions and bodily gestures to express an idea or a particular meaning learned by the deaf in his family and social environment.
