It is also known as “Ibzim” (the loop) in many regions of the country. The “Chemassa” is a brooch that is placed in the necklace. It is made of precious metal which is either gold or silver. It is one of the best-known traditional Algerian jewelry, just like the “Skhab”. Moreover, they are both considered traditional Algerian jewelry par excellence. The Chemassa (loop) is an important part of the necklace, widely known in various regions of Algeria such as Tlemcen, Annaba, Batna and central Algiers.
