Group of 22, founders of the Movement for the Independence of Algeria.
The "Group of 22", also called the "Revolutionary Committee of Unity and Action" (CRUA), is a group of 22 Algerian activists who played a key role in the outbreak of the Algerian War of Independence in 1954. This group was founded with the aim of preparing and launching the armed struggle against French colonization.
The 22 founders were:
