Artist, painter and calligrapher, Born October 10, 1953 in Ouanougha, in the wilaya of M'sila, Ali Mechta attended the National School of Fine Arts in Algiers where he studied applied arts. The study of this art took him to Spain where, in 1978, he joined the ceramics school in Madrid. He received specialized education there for five years. From 1981 to 1982, he gave free rein to his creativity. After this long journey, the artist returns to the country to pass on his knowledge and teach drawing. Ali Mechta received first prize at the Forum for Innovation and Creation in Boumerdès in 1987. He won third national painting prize in 1987. Calligrapher, ceramist, Ali Mechta is the author of several artistic creations at the Central Museum of the National People's Army (ANP), the Mujahid Museum and the Martyrs' Sanctuary. In 1976, Algeria celebrated the centenary of the first telephone connection, the artist signed his first stamp. The same year, he was asked to design a stamp issued to mark Algeria's solidarity with the Palestinian people and others followed subsequently, including a last one dedicated to the historic group of 22.
