Brassware is a cultural heritage of Algeria inherited from ancestors, which has led to families being linked to it and who always preserve at home copper utensils and pieces which decorate their homes but which are also used in everyday life.

Copper bucket (Mahbes):

Brides used to carry with them the copper bucket which is a longitudinally shaped copper container, very similar to a bucket, used to carry the items needed for the Moorish bath (el hammam). Nowadays the role of the copper bucket has changed to become a “Makrout” carrier that the bride takes with her initially to her husband's house, then transformed into a piece of interior decor that she places above her wardrobe.

It is made of several types of copper and is embossed with designs of different sizes.

El Mahbes, considered a masterpiece, adorns the National Public Museum of Arts and Popular Traditions “Kasr Khadawj Al-Amya” in the capital.

It is carved with floral motifs, vases from which sunflowers and cypresses emerge. The upper part is decorated with a band of trilobed leaves.
