Public works achievements
National Road No. 1 is one of the most important roads in Algeria in terms of length. In fact, this road extends from north to south to the confines of the southern border with Niger State over a length of 2500 km. The project to split the section of National Road No. 01 is intended to connect the east-west highway to the highway crossing the highlands.
The project of this north-south highway extends, in its northern part, from the town of ECHEFFA in Blida, reaching the borders of the wilaya of Laghouat with the wilaya of Ghardaïa over an estimated distance of 475.5 km. This project crosses many urban areas.
The ECHEFFA –EL BEROUAGHIA section which extends over a distance estimated at 53 KM, constitutes an important part of the duplication project, it is made up of two 02 sections namely:
- ECHEFFA -El HAMDANIA over a distance of 14 km on the territory of the wilaya of Blida, and;
-El HAMDANIA–EL BEROUAGHIA over a distance of 39 km in the territory of the wilaya of Medea
The technical specifications of this project are:
-length of the main road of the said project is estimated at 53 kilometers. -the cross section (2x3 passages), a single lane is planned for heavy goods vehicles over a distance of 12 km.
-Number of works of art: 41 units
-Number of bridges: 35
-Number of tunnels: 03 tunnels (double track over a distance estimated at 3010 meters)
-Number of exchangers: 10
