The General Directorate of Customs is a public administration, attached to the Ministry of Finance. It is the obligatory crossing point for goods, capital and people, making it the first barrier at the borders. It is entrusted with strategic missions: economic, fiscal and protection, in perpetual evolution.

The stamp issued with the image of Algerian customs recalls, in particular, the harshness of the tasks of the customs officer who is called upon to exercise in all circumstances and at all times and places for the preservation of the national economy and the citizen.

In an arid setting far from habitation sites, a vigilant customs officer monitors any suspicious activity in the great desert of our country.

The photo used to show the harshness of the tasks assigned to customs officers was awarded by the World Customs Organization (WCO) as best photo during a competition it organized in 2023: it is entitled: 'On all fronts'.

The sacrifices that customs officers make in their noble task, despite the sometimes extremely difficult conditions in which they work to ensure their missions of protecting the economy and the citizen, had to be marked by actions of a symbolic nature: this stamp constitutes one of its expressions of recognition and support.
