Baccalaureate Arts Stream 2024
The project to create the baccalaureate in arts falls within the following framework:
• Implement the twentieth commitment of the President of the Republic in the field of intellectual, cultural and artistic production with a view to developing the cinematographic and cultural industry in the service of economic growth, by creating an environment favorable to the emergence and growth of artistic talents, in particular by encouraging artistic training courses at secondary and university level, and by creating an artistic baccalaureate.
• Apply the decisions of the Council of Ministers meeting on April 18, 2021 concerning the national education sector, in particular the creation of the artistic baccalaureate, which stipulates the following:
- The need to strengthen artistic education in the school environment to make it a breeding ground for talent, by promoting their development on a national scale in various fields in order to direct them towards a real artistic industry;
- The orientation of gifted students from the first year of secondary school towards artistic specializations in order to train them early and allow young Algerians to develop their talents and passions in various fields;
- The importance of coordination between the sectors of national education, higher education and scientific research, culture and the arts, training and vocational education in the field of artistic training;
- The need to provide all the conditions for the successful creation of the artistic baccalaureate, aiming to guarantee a new generation of arts professionals in various specializations offered by this promising generation, by exploiting the rich historical heritage of Algeria on an international, African and Maghreb scale, and by promoting it in the artistic fields;
- The implementation of the work program of the Ministry of National Education resulting from the government action plan;
- The application of the provisions of Law 08-04 dated 15 Muharram 1429 corresponding to January 23, 2008, relating to the framework law on national education, in particular with regard to:
- Article 04 of Chapter II 'Enrichment of the general culture of students by deepening the scientific, literary and artistic learning processes, and by constantly adapting them to social, cultural, technological and professional developments', 'Guarantee of cultural training in the fields of arts, letters and cultural heritage';
- Article 45 of Chapter III 'Development of students' aesthetic sense and refinement of their critical thinking, their curiosity, their imagination and their creativity'.
For this purpose, the Ministry of National Education has decided to create the arts sector with its four artistic options: theater, cinema (audiovisual), plastic arts and music at the Chahid Aoula Amari high school in El Biar, Algiers, from the 2022-2023 school year in order to develop and perfect the artistic talents of students, to instill in them a culture allowing them to understand the historical, cultural, economic and aesthetic dimensions of creations artistic, to promote the artistic aspect and to give it a place in the Algerian educational system.
The arts sector aims to achieve several educational objectives, including those related to:
- The learner, as the main target of the educational process as the formation of taste and development of socio-emotional skills, formation of personality and achievement of psychological balance, acquisition of methods of observation, precision and concentration, development of imagination, linguistic and communication development and improvement of the level of intelligence and construction of creative thinking;
- The social aspect, such as the contribution to the social formation of the individual and the strengthening of aesthetic, spiritual and cultural values, to the achievement of harmony and the valorization of collective work, to the preservation of cultural heritage and its valorization, to the strengthening of social harmony and social cohesion, to the support of the cultural position of the Algerian nation on the world cultural scene;
- The scientific and economic aspect by providing a methodology to analyze the components of the environment and their relationships with each other and the principles that govern them, by investing in various arts to contribute to economic performance and follow rapid technological progress and by establishing the foundations of a cultural industry allowing Algeria to take a distinguished place in the global cultural economy.
The first baccalaureate in the arts sector will be organized during the 2024 session.
