The Kourdane Palace is considered the second most important monument of Tijanism after the old Aïn Madhi Palace in Aïn Madhi, in the wilaya of Laghouat. It is visited by tourists and visitors from all over the world, like followers of Tijanism. Its construction dates back to the era of Khalifa Tidjani, fourth of the Tariqa Tidjania (1850-1897). Its architectural style and decoration are Moorish. The palace overlooks a green expanse which constitutes the main entrance, with a long arcaded vestibule on the left side, composed of square rooms, and on the right side, two gardens containing various types of trees and plants separated by a passage, dividing into two parts: the part on the right, where the mausoleum and the tomb of Sidi Ahmed Ammar Tidjani are located as well as an adjacent cemetery intended for the nobles and the descendants of Sidi Ahmed Tidjani, while the left part leads directly to the palace gate. The Kourdane Palace occupies a deep spiritual place in the hearts of the region's inhabitants for its major role in meeting and assembling the followers of Tariqa Tidjania around the world and in Africa.
