Ksar of Al-Mizane or Taghourfit - Djanet
It is considered one of the oldest palaces in the town of Djanet in Tassili n'Ajjer, dating from the 9th and 10th centuries according to references from El-Habous in the Ilizzi region. This palace, founded by Abdou ibn Zaid, descendant of the Kel Taghourfit lineage, the ancient inhabitants of the region, is located in the Al-Mizane district (El-Mihan), between the districts of Adjahil to the south and Zelouaz to the north, these districts being the true cradle of Djanet. This palace overlooks a palm oasis to the west (Oued Idjeriou), made up of gardens belonging to the palace families. It is divided into four main sections with three main doors opened and closed to protect the inhabitants. This palace consists of eight to twenty-four buildings (houses) all connected to each other, the inhabitants maintain family and social relationships, all being descendants of Imuhagh (the tribe of Kel Djanet). The El-Mihan palace has a particular symbolism where its inhabitants participate exclusively with those of the Azelouaz palace in the Sbiba celebrations at the Djanet oasis. The preserved area of Al-Mizane Palace was established and its boundaries defined in 2021.
