Houcine Rouibah
The martyr was born on June 22, 1922 in Jijel. He joined the national movement very early, and in 1945 he became party cell leader in Jijel. He was arrested and imprisoned in the Jijel military barracks for three months, then transferred to the Mansoura camp in Constantine. He was released in August of the same year and returned to his work as a merchant.
In 1946, the martyr joined the Movement for the Triumph of Democratic Liberties alongside activist Mohamed Belouizdad, who visited Jijel as part of organizing the party's ranks. In 1947 he became a member of the Special Organization, was arrested and released in September of the same year.
In 1950, he was arrested again and imprisoned in Annaba for three months before returning to Jijel to continue his activism. On November 4, 1954, Hussein Rouibah was arrested and sentenced to prison and a fine of 5,000 francs. He was released in 1955 and joined the National Liberation Army.
In early 1956, Zighoud Youcef appointed him political assistant in the leadership of the Revolutionary Army until the Soummam Congress, where he was promoted to the rank of commander and became political commissioner of Wilaya II. Hocine Rouibah was martyred with nine of his comrades on November 8, 1960, during a clash with colonial forces in 'Labna' in historic Wilaya II.
