Fifth edition of the President of the Republic's prize for Amazigh literature and language
The President of the Republic Prize for Amazigh Literature and Language was established by Presidential Decree No. 20-228 of 29 Dhou El Hidja 1441, corresponding to August 19, 2020, modified and supplemented. This prize aims to highlight literary and intellectual achievements in the different Amazigh linguistic varieties in use in Algeria.
The aim of the prize is to reward the best research and works carried out, individually or collectively, in the following categories:
Linguistics: Studies in the Amazigh language, or if necessary, in other languages, focusing on Amazigh linguistic layout, terminology, syntactic rules, as well as the characteristics of the phonological system common or specific to each linguistic variant. This category also includes lexicological, semantic and lexicographic studies, dictionaries on specific common elements of Amazigh varieties.
Literature written in Tamazight and translated into it: Creative works written in the Amazigh language or translated into this language from other languages, whether Algerian or universal literature including novels, collections of short stories, plays and poems.
Research on Amazigh intangible cultural heritage: Field work aimed at collecting and studying Amazigh intangible cultural heritage in its various manifestations.
Scientific, technological and digital research: Achievements and projects aimed at integrating Amazigh scientific and literary content into modern technologies and digital tools.
The works are evaluated anonymously by an independent jury, composed of academics specializing in the fields of Amazigh language and culture, as well as representatives of ministries concerned with the objectives of this competition.
This edition highlights the importance of this award in promoting creativity in the Amazigh language, in its fifth edition, the announcement of the results of which coincides with the celebrations of the Amazigh New Year 2975.
