Dried figs from Béni Maouche
They are among the most emblematic agricultural products having consolidated their presence on national markets, thanks to a long tradition of natural drying and rural storage. This dried fruit comes from the Béni Maouche region, located in the wilaya of Bejaïa, one of the largest fig production areas in Algeria. This reputation is due to a favorable climate, fertile land and traditional drying techniques which preserve the quality of the fruits and their natural appearance.
These unique characteristics were officially recognized by the competent national committee, which granted the Quality Label under the geographical designation “Dried Fig of Béni Maouche”, by virtue of the decision dated 20 dhu al-hijjah1437 AH, corresponding to September 22, 2016.
This product represents great nutritional value and is an ideal choice for markets interested in natural and organic food, thus enhancing its export potential regionally and internationally.
