From 1949-1953, Kerrata experienced extraordinary growth during the hydroelectric development of Oued Agrioun.
After the commissioning of the Darguinah plant in 1952, the Ighil Emda dam and the Kerrata underground plant in 1953 made this region an important nerve center from which lines headed to Algiers and Bône.
The development of Oued-Agrioun entered the implementation period first due to a certain number of favorable factors which were ease of access, relative ease of work and better knowledge of the regime of this wadi.
