Statue of Aesculapius and view of Algiers
From April 3 to 6, 1955, the 30th French Congress of Medicine was held in Algiers. The stamp is typical of Algeria, it recalls among other things the tourist series of 1936. It represents a view of Algiers with in the foreground a statue of Aesculapius who was the Roman god of Medicine. This is the god who had a staff around which a serpent was coiled.
