Founded in 1905, Rotary is a humanitarian, apolitical and non-denominational organization open to all cultures, races and beliefs. Rotary member clubs meet weekly. Their workforce is representative of the professional activity of the locality.
Rotary International has established a Foundation primarily to fund programs of humanitarian action and educational and cultural exchange through contributions from Rotarians and others who share its worldview. Since 1947, the Foundation has awarded more than $1.1 billion in grants through initiatives initiated and organized by Rotary clubs and districts.
Rotary is an association of members from business circles and the liberal professions who are dedicated to humanitarian action and encourage the observation of rules of high probity in the exercise of any profession as well as understanding between people. Approximately 1.2 million Rotarians are members of more than 31,000 Rotary Clubs in 166 countries.
Initially composed of four founding members, Rotary has become in less than 100 years a global network of men and women who share a vision of a better world. The world's leading service organization, Rotary knows how to help those in need and unite people of different cultures and beliefs. Through the work of its clubs, programs and Foundation, Rotary makes the world a better place.
