In the following years Chassériau was increasingly influenced by Eugène Delacroix. Chassériau has two thinkers with very opposite styles, Ingres and Delacroix
1846 Chassériau makes a two-month trip to Algiers. Orientalism helps the painter make his artistic breakthrough. In addition to orientalist scenes, numerous frescoes created for Parisian churches constitute his work.
1849 Chassériau obtains a large part of his orders from the French government which awards him the order of the Legion of Honor.
1856 Théodore Chassériau died in Paris at the age of 37.
