8th Anniversary of November 1, 1954
November 1, 1962 was marked by the issue of the first stamp of the Algerian Republic.
This stamp commemorates the 8th anniversary of the outbreak of the Revolution, and is called 'A New Plus', because to its face value of 1F was added a surcharge of 9F for the benefit of the children of Chouhadas.
Although it was not a success on a technical level, this stamp is interesting in terms of its rating, due to its limited edition and its content.
It in fact immediately situates the place of Algeria, an independent country in the world, already affirms its belonging to the third world and to the Arab-Islamic community.
Important notes:
On the same day of its appearance, five other stamps were issued, called 'Sites Series', sold at 8:00 a.m., while the 'one plus nine' stamp was sold at 5:00 p.m. and the entire stock was exhausted, because as I already said above, only 12,825 copies were printed instead of 300,000. lack of time and paper.
The day after its sale, its value increased by 50%.
There are several varieties of this stamp, and even fake copies.
