Ghardaïa Airplane Caravelle
Ghardaïa is a commune in the wilaya of Ghardaïa in Algeria, of which it is the capital, located 600 km south of Algiers.
Ghardaïa is also the name of the main ksar of the pentapolis of the Mzab2 valley, founded in the 11th century by the Ibadi Mozabites3.
Ghardaïa, as well as the Mzab valley, are part of the UNESCO world heritage and are considered a tourist site of major importance in Algeria, due to their preserved Ksourian architecture and their history.
The city includes a significant Mozabite community. Its conurbation, which extends over several municipalities, had around 140,000 inhabitants in 2008.
