Gazella leptoceros
This is the dune gazelle, formerly common in the Saharan Atlas, from Biskra to Aïn Sefra.
Living in small groups, gazelles frequent both dunes and ergs and can go several days without drinking, moving away from oases and only making furtive appearances at the edge of wadis and gueltas (lagoons).
Once tamed, the gazelle becomes very familiar.
