Mediterranean Games – Tunis 1967
Algeria has chosen to enter the major regional competitions by participating, for the first time in its history, in the Mediterranean Games.
While the country has regained its full place in the concert of nations and increasingly asserts its avant-garde role in the defense of socialism and oppressed peoples, Algeria must establish its notoriety in the field of sport through honorable representation in major sporting events.
The sporting performances of our country, whether during the national liberation struggle through the glorious team of the National Liberation Front or after independence, were very appreciable despite the lack of means and encourage, in fact, greater results.
This first participation in a major regional sports gathering is placed under the sign of fraternity since the city hosting the games is Tunis, knowing the fraternal and historical ties, deepened and strengthened during the National Revolution, which unite Algeria and Tunisia.
In addition, the conviction of our country, through the Council of the Revolution and the government, in the values of peace and good neighborliness throughout the Mediterranean gives a great symbolic charge to this sporting event.
From September 8 to 17, 1967, the Algerian sporting elite will meet with their counterparts from the Mediterranean Basin for ten days of healthy and fraternal sporting competition.
