Nememcha carpet
The decoration of Nememcha-Harakta (South-Constantine) carpets is composed of stylized floral and geometric motifs.
The beautiful hold of these rugs is largely due to the qualities of the reggam (master upholsterer).
As a true creator, the latter has no need for a model or model.
The piece to be created is in his memory before he even begins work.
Sitting cross-legged in front of the loom, he composes the decor and ties the points of the woolen thread.
On the other side of the warp, facing the reggam, one or two women pass by and weave the weft.
