Diligence of Djelfa Laghouat Ghardaïa (1870)
For this first celebration of Stamp Day, Algeria has opted for a theme that highlights the delivery of postal mail in the Sahara.
The route begins in Djelfa, passes through Laghouat and ends in Ghardaïa. It was by means of postal cars or, more precisely, stagecoaches put into service in 1870 that the remote populations of southern Algeria began to receive letters and parcels.
