Stamp of France N° 173 overprinted ALGERIA
In December 1922, it was decided to issue a stamp for the hundredth anniversary of the birth of Louis Pasteur.
Pasteur type postage stamps are commonly used postage stamps for France and, with specific overprints, in certain French colonies. They replaced the sower type stamps.
They were issued from 1923, and were withdrawn from sale from 1928.
Twelve values will be issued, the 10, 15 and 20 centimes, two 30 centimes, differing in the color of the background, the 45, 50, 75 and 90 centimes, and finally, the values 1, 1.25 and 1.50 francs.
The stamp represents, in profile view, Louis Pasteur (one of the fathers of microbiology).
