Universal and international exhibitions were organized from the beginning of the second half of the 19th century. Since that held in London in 1851, they have marked the stages of civilization, concentrating in a single place the results of the creative activities of peoples. They were an opportunity to confirm the development of civilization by giving it new impetus and made a considerable contribution to humanity. Thus, the telephone and the automobile owe their wide diffusion to international exposure. The idea of progress was always the guiding principle of these major demonstrations. Nowadays, international exhibitions no longer play the same role as they did before the Second World War. The astonishing development of means of telecommunications and transport facilitates mutual understanding and numerous exchanges. The organizers are no longer content with bringing together rare or new objects, but are trying to identify a philosophy common to all peoples of the world. This philosophy is summed up in the theme of the exhibition. The theme of the exhibition in Brussels (Belgium - 1958) was "World Assessment for a More Human World - Technology and Humanism" and that of Montreal (Canada), which took place in 1967, was "Terre des hommes". Faithful to this tradition, Expo ’70, which began in Osaka (Japan) on March 15, will run until September 13, 1970 under the theme “Human Progress in Harmony”. By participating in Expo '70, Algeria intends to make our country well known to the many visitors. Our pavilion will not only retrace the millennial history of our country, but will also show the results of a national experience, as well as the effort made to put in place new structures while respecting the contribution of the past.
