As part of the festivities marking the 10th anniversary of Algeria's independence, the 1st Arab Youth Festival is planned for July 5 to 11, 1972. Matured and advocated for many years by the Social and Cultural Commission of the Arab League, this festival, in its first Algerian edition, will bring together a significant number of young people from Morocco, Mauritania, Tunisia, Libya, Egypt, Sudan, Syria, Lebanon, Palestine, Saudi Arabia, Kuwait and the United Arab Emirates. As such, a wide range of events, both sporting and cultural, is planned for this important meeting and will allow hundreds of participants to meet in a setting where any spirit of competition is excluded. Thus, several sporting disciplines will be brought together, namely football, basketball, volleyball, athletics, gymnastics and table tennis.
In the cultural aspect, the entertainment will be very eclectic so that all participants can benefit from this event through exchange and emulation. For this, groups from different Arab countries will perform during evenings dedicated to music, theater, singing, dance and poetry. Furthermore, series of conferences at the Palais des Nations will address themes inherent to the problems of Arab youth.
In addition to the mixing of young people and the sharing of ideas, this festival will strengthen the fraternal and powerful bonds which constitute the bases of the Arab nation. This will also be the ideal opportunity to coordinate the efforts of all participants for the development of action and cooperation programs, the development of exchange mechanisms and the launch of projects aimed at youth throughout the Arab region. To promote the success of this very important event, Algeria has brought together all the necessary reception and support resources.
