Constantine embroidery
In eastern Algeria, in Constantine in particular, flat metal thread embroidery is still done on tulle or light silk fabrics.
Sometimes used in the ornamentation of large curtains, it is mainly used to decorate the scarves worn on the head by the women of Constantine and Annaba.
The background fabric is covered with a scattering of light patterns on which a floral scroll or a sober decoration composed of simple geometric elements stands out.
