Symbol of Posts and Telecommunications (PTT)
Like the administrations of other countries, the Algerian administration has created and adopted an emblem which will facilitate the execution of its mission to the extent that immediate signaling of a center of postal and telecommunications activity begins the process of rapprochement between the public service and the user.
The design of the emblem was carried out by the design office of the Ministry of Posts and Telecommunications. The administration was guided in its choice by two imperatives. First of all, an option was taken by the fact that the emblem must reproduce the initial letters “Ü” and “O” of “posts” and “telecommunications” in the national language.
Secondly, it was necessary to find a new expression while avoiding falling back into frequently used motifs such as the bird, the envelope or the lightning, etc., but nevertheless obtaining a set which, although original in its form, evokes the activity of posts and telecommunications. These essential conditions are met in the adopted emblem.
Indeed, the ellipse, which gives it its overall shape, is made up of the first initial “Ü” used twice in opposition. This construction has the advantage of allowing the emblem to be presented in two opposite directions. The ellipse in question surrounds the reversed second initial “O” which constitutes the center of the emblem. Furthermore, the mention of postal and telecommunications activity appears under two different aspects. The first is represented by the body of the letter “Ü” which represents the receiver of a futuristic-shaped telephone handset, while the letter “O” in the center of the drawing can, through its circular shape, bring to mind the dial of the device. The second aspect, for its part, relates to space communications that the entire emblem clearly recalls: the ellipse constituting our planet around which two telecommunications satellites, represented by the two points of each letter, orbit.
