Pterocles orientalis
Common Sandgrouse Pterocles orientalis
Called qouidri in Algeria, it is the largest of the Maghreb gangas.
It often lives in colonies in stony semi-desert regions.
It avoids absolute desert and leaves regions developed by man.
However, in summer, it joins the cereal-growing areas of the high plains.
The habits of this granivore, long considered a harmful bird, are poorly known.
We cannot say whether the male or the female is incubating.
