Solidarity with the People's Republic of Angola
Born on November 11, 1975, after a long war of liberation against Portuguese colonialism, launched in 1961, the People's Republic of Angola found itself confronted with a double internal and external aggression fomented by imperialism and its allies in Africa.
Under the enlightened leadership of the Popular Movement for the Liberation of Angola (MPLA), the Angolan people had to wage a second war of liberation just as harsh as the one they victoriously waged against Portuguese colonialism.
With the support of the majority of African peoples and the entire progressive international community, the Angolan people, through their firm determination both on the military level – the total liberation of the country being almost achieved – and on the diplomatic level, imposed the People's Republic of Angola on the international level by very recently becoming a legal member of the Organization of African Unity.
These successes and the collapse of the separatist coalition should not make us forget that the heroic struggle of the Angolan people continues and that they still have to face new intrigues.
A necessary and consistent international solidarity with the People's Republic of Angola, led by the MPLA must still play a role in achieving the victory which will open the way to national construction in peace, progress and prosperity for all the children of Angola.
In this enterprise of national salvation, the brotherly Angolan people can count on the support of Algeria, just as during their national liberation struggle.
