Malus communis - Apple tree
The Malus communis apple tree
Among fruit species, the apple tree, along with the pear tree, is the one that flowers the latest; it generally lasts from the beginning to the end of April.
Its flowers with 5 white or pink petals, depending on the variety, only bloom after the first leaves appear.
To have satisfactory fruiting, the species needs both cold temperatures in winter and warm temperatures in spring.
Occupying approximately 12,000 ha, we can cite, among the privileged areas, the watersheds of the wilaya of Médéa, the valleys of the Cheliff and Soummam wadis, the foothills of Kabylie and the hillsides of Tlemcen.
