National Liberation Front Party Congress
The Algerian institutional system is based on the unity of the party. The National Liberation Front Party is the vanguard, leading and organizing force of the people for the realization of the objectives of the Revolution.
As such, it constantly deepens the ideology within the framework of the orientations established by the National Charter, defines the lines of action, specifies the perspectives of the Socialist Revolution and determines the means to be implemented to consolidate its positions and ensure its progress (...).
The congress is the supreme organ of the party. It is made up of representatives of party members democratically elected by the grassroots. The congress adopts the statutes of the party whose functioning must obey the principles of democratic centralism, specifies the ideological orientations, defines the general policy of the Revolution, determines the objectives to be achieved and elects the leadership of the party which directs and controls the policy of the country.
The National Charter being the ideological reference document of the party, the congress will be able to deepen its concepts and orientations and make the necessary adjustments and correctives, taking into account the imperatives of development in all areas (...).
It is, in other words, a matter of deepening the revolutionary experience, of moving from the democratic and popular content of the Revolution to its socialist content. It is in the light of these realities highlighted by the National Charter that President Houari Boumediène had undertaken since 1977 the work of renovation, strengthening and revitalization of the National Liberation Front Party (...).
The congress of the National Liberation Front Party, which will be held in Algiers from January 27, 1979, is the completion of a democratic process initiated a year ago. It undoubtedly constitutes an illustration of the continuity of the Socialist Revolution in Algeria.
