Tarout Cupressus dupreziana
Tree 5 to 10 m long, with thick trunk and very dense branches and red-brown bark.
Its branches are covered with tight, opposite scaly leaves in pairs.
When mature, its seeds remain enclosed in ovoid cones approximately 2 cm long (cypress balls).
These cones have a dozen scales with a short point in the middle and part when mature, releasing brown seeds surrounded by a broad wing.
This species is only known in Tassili N'Ajjer, where it occurs at an altitude of 1,800 m, in a few wadi beds in the region, to the south-east of Tamrit.
