The wings show on a pale yellow background black transverse bands thinned posteriorly, alternately large and small.
The hindwings have a distal border of small yellow, black and blue crescents.
The tails are well developed.
The wingspan is 70 to 90 millimeters.
Caterpillars are phytophagous.
They attack the leaves of fruit trees and in particular cultivated rosaceae: peach, pear, apricot, etc.
The adult appears in spring and summer.
