Oran Gate before 1830
Founded in the 10th century on the orders of the Umayyads of Spain by two Andalusian sailors, Mohamed Ibn Abi 'Aoun and Mohamed Ibn Abdoun, the city of Oran experienced a period of great prosperity.
With the advent of the Turks, under the reign of Bey Mohamed Ben Othman El Kébir, it was freed from Spanish domination in 1792 and experienced development and stability.
