Summer Olympics in Los Angeles
This year, the city of Los Angeles (United States) is hosting, from July 28 to August 12, the 23rd Olympiad of the modern era.
This is the second time that this city has hosted the biggest sporting event of the year.
The emblem chosen by the United States for the Los Angeles Olympic Games embodies the greatest aspirations of human nature in search of perfection in the spirit of competition.
To ensure the smooth running of this edition, the organizing committee has set up modern sports facilities that can accommodate in the best conditions national delegations coming from 140 countries, a record number of participants.
The international committee mobilized all resources, in particular the grounds of university campuses, such as that of the University of California and Los Angeles (UCLA), requisitioned to serve as Olympic villages and accommodate the 6,829 athletes (1,566 women and 5,263 men) selected in the 23 disciplines included in the program for this edition.
