Imzad
This rudimentary instrument, made from half a round African squash which constitutes the body and an arched stick garnished with horsehair which serves as a bow, is exclusively used by the Targuie women of Hoggar.
The open part of the box is covered with a skin to which a single horsehair rope is attached.
This instrument is used by a soloist who draws from the single string laments full of nostalgia and lyrical evocations.
