First National Youth Festival
The National Charter of 1976 devoted an important chapter to the youth sector, emphasizing the need to provide all the instruments and tools capable of promoting the development of young Algerians and their training to be the leaders of tomorrow's Algeria.
Guarantor of the sustainability of the Revolution, youth, an important segment of society, has always benefited from special attention from the State.
In 1975, the National Union of Algerian Youth (UNJA) was created, thus consecrating the union of Algerian youth behind the enlightened leadership of the Council of the Revolution.
In order to celebrate the tenth anniversary of the creation of the UNJA and the International Year of Youth, the Ministry of Youth and Sports, in application of the guidelines of the National Liberation Front Party, is organizing, in this year 1985, the 1st National Youth Festival.
The program includes cultural and artistic activities, scientific and technological activities, forums for young people on economic, social, cultural, tourist and historical themes, as well as sporting activities within the framework of the 2nd National Sports Games.
This large gathering of Algerian youth has several objectives: to increase contacts between young people from different regions of the country, to promote the spirit of initiative of young people in order to ensure their cultural and sporting development and to anchor in them the principles of the Revolution and the cultural and social values characterizing the Algerian people.
The kick-off is given on July 5, the anniversary of the recovery of independence and freedom. This choice is not fortuitous insofar as the supreme sacrifice of the martyrs of the Revolution had the noble objective of allowing their children and their descendants to enjoy freedom and live free and happy.
Likewise, youth constitute the vital force which maintains the Revolution and perpetuates the legacy of our martyrs.
