International Year of Youth
Under the slogan “Participation, development, peace”, the year 1985 was proclaimed by the United Nations General Assembly as the International Year of Youth. It demonstrates the international community's awareness of the situation of youth and recognizes the important contribution that young people can make to shape and build the future of humanity.
As part of this important international event, Algeria, like other countries, plans to establish a concrete program of measures and activities in accordance with the report on national youth policy, the main objective of which is to better prepare young people to actively participate in all areas of national development.
The calendar of activities established on this occasion concerns more particularly the sectors of education, vocational training, work, culture, leisure, sports, specialized education, information as well as National Service.
The main activities organized across all the wilayas are:
- national campaigns;
- competitions and exhibitions in different fields (family, production, teaching, rural development, science and technology, international peace and understanding);
- National Youth Festival;
- National sports games;
- youth forums;
- “Work and leisure” volunteering projects;
- youth exchange and tourism sessions.
Executed at all levels, the program of activities for the International Youth Year is aimed at the general public and particularly young people. Thanks to this international event, each organizing institution will work for better knowledge of its action by highlighting its results and must obtain dynamic participation from young people by involving them in all phases of preparation and implementation of the program.
