El Meniaa
Formerly El Goléa, El Meniaâ is located approximately 870 km from Algiers, 270 km from Ghardaïa and 370 m above sea level.
A very popular tourist region, it is renowned for its old ksar, built on a rocky peak in the 9th century and its immense oasis of some 300,000 date palms.
And that's not all, because its Saharan libraries also constitute one of the jealously preserved treasures.
As for the tomb where the remains of Father de Foucauld, who died in 1929, rest, it is also one of the places of pilgrimage for foreign tourists passing through El Meniaâ.
