Soummam weavings
In Greater Kabylia, fabrics are generally composed of geometric patterns drawn in fine, highly twisted white wool on a dark background: blue, green and dark brown.
These very decorative patterns are so subtle that you would think they were embroidered. They are arranged in transverse strips.
In Petite Kabylie, the woven pieces have a white and red tone brightened with yellow and green notes highlighted by dark blue rings.
The principle of fabric ornamentation is approximately the same as that of Grande Kabylie.
The Soummam weavings, for their part, are characterized by the presence of two wide madder red bands separated by a narrower central band.
They are divided into compartments by thin white lines and filled with a decoration formed by the repetition of the same motif standing out in white against the red background.
