Courtyard of the Red House (Dar El Hamra)
It was built by Dey Hussein. An inscription recalls that on July 8, 1830, General de Bourmont returned the dey's visit the day before to the Citadel (Casbah).
Its arched courtyard, its first floor gallery embellished with twisted columns and ribbed arches, the woodwork of its rooms, its living room, its walls inlaid with stucco, its inscriptions, its ceramics and its ceilings decorated with gold leaf bear witness to a refined art.
